Sam Carr is president of the Bartram Trail Society of Florida and past-president of the Bartram Trail Conference. His efforts include establishing Bartram National Recreation Trail in Putnam County highlighting the paths William Bartram detailed in his book TRAVELS.

He is currently working with Volusia, Nassau, St. Johns, and Duval counties to establish Bartram Trails. The Bartram Trail Society of Florida works to establish public access recreational trails and related activities along the routes taken by William Bartram through Florida and to encourage the study, preservation and interpretation of the William Bartram heritage. bartramtrailsociety.com
