Camp Chowenwaw is located on the south shore of Black Creek, north of the City, just off Highway 17 N.

The meeting will be held in the Big Cabin.
This historic building does not have air conditioning.
It is nestled beneath the large oaks next to Black Creek for shade. Please dress casually and comfortably.

Details:
Like last year, this year’s meeting is being held outside of Putnam County, at a location that is a documented Bartram Site along the Trail in a neighboring county. Clay County has made great progress developing its Bartram Trail, and this is an opportunity to visit the County’s premier Bartram Site and its Bartram Trail Trailhead.

The program for this year’s meeting will be similar to last year’s: a brief Society business meeting with the election of officers and Board Members, a “State of the Society” address by Society President Sam Carr, and a State of the Bartram Trail in Florida presentation by Dean Campbell.

The main attraction, however, will be a Bartram presentation by Vishi Garig, Archives Supervisor for the Clay County Historical Archives Department in the Office of the Clay County Clerk of Court.  Ms. Garig will discuss William Bartram’s travels in Clay County and his visit to Governor Tonyn’s Plantation in 1774 at present-day Camp Chowenwaw.
