Beverly Williams, Board Member
Beverly is a 4th-generation Floridian from Leesburg. She earned an AA degree from Lake-Sumter State College and a BA degree in Business Administration from the University of Central Florida. Beverly has been married to her husband, Marc, for 51 years. They share one son and a granddaughter.
In 2013, after residing in Northeast Georgia for 36 years, they relocated to Fernandina Beach, FL, where she discovered a Bartram Trail Historic Marker placed along the riverfront in the 1980s by The Florida Federation of Garden Clubs to commemorate Bartram’s visit to Amelia Island in 1774, where he launched his explorations of the St. Johns River.
In September 2016, Beverly founded a federated garden club based in Fernandina Beach, and immediately knew the club must be named The Bartram Garden Club in recognition of Bartram’s visit to Amelia Island.
Currently serving her third term as the club’s president, Beverly’s proudest garden club accomplishment has been initiating the renovation and rededication of the badly deteriorated 1980s Bartram Trail marker, which had originally sparked her interest in Travels and the formation of a garden club to honor Bartram’s legacy.
She loves gardening, floral design, cooking, and reading non-fiction. Her favorite pastime is enjoying the view of the Northeast Georgia mountain peaks with Marc from their log cabin, perched atop Screamer Mountain in Clayton, GA. William Bartram probably encountered every native plant type on this mountain during his travels to nearby North Carolina.
Beverly is honored to serve on the BTSF board and to continue her travels with “Billy” and his followers.
